barise was made using ramie dyed with Indonesian bay leaves.
After that, the ramie fiber is tapestry-treated with a rattan ring and cotton yarn.
barise seeks to create a welcoming atmosphere, and the name is derived from
the combination of two words: bay and arise. As this project was produced during
the pandemic, it was made by Indonesian bay leaves with the hopes of a better future.
Working on this project involves a set of stages,
including scouring, bleaching, and dyeing using bay leaves,
as well as a mordant that combines vinegar, alum, lemon, rust water, and few others.
Several methodologies were used to investigate the fiber ramie structure.
